Hookah Maintenance Guide: Expert Tips for a Perfect Smoke
Share
While basic cleaning routines are essential, there are several expert tips that can help you take your hookah maintenance to the next level.
Here’s how to keep your hookah performing at its best and ensure each session is as enjoyable as possible.
Allow Your Hookah Bowl to Cool
One common mistake is trying to clean your hookah or bowl immediately after use. Rinsing a hot bowl with cold water can cause it to crack or even shatter due to thermal shock. These cracks can let shisha juices seep through, making a mess and potentially damaging your bowl. Always let your hookah bowl cool down completely before cleaning to avoid these issues and maintain its integrity.
Store Shisha Tobacco Correctly
To extend the freshness of your shisha tobacco, invest in high-quality, sealable containers. Even though modern packaging is improved, it’s often not enough to keep your tobacco fresh long-term. Glass containers with rubber or silicone seals are ideal. Store them in a cool, dark place like a closet to shield them from light and air, which can degrade the tobacco over time.
Regularly Check and Clean the Purge Valve
Poor airflow can often lead to weak smoke output or diminished clouds. Regularly disassemble the purge valve and clean the ball bearing to ensure it’s free from residue. Keeping this part clean will help maintain optimal airflow and enhance your hookah’s performance.
Maintain Your Heat Management Device (HMD)
Cleaning the heat management device can be challenging due to burnt shisha residue. Start by removing as much of the burnt tobacco as possible while the device is still warm. Use oven mitts or tongs for safety. Once it has cooled down, soak it in hot water and scrub it with an abrasive brush to remove any stubborn residue. Regular maintenance will prevent build-up and ensure your HMD functions efficiently.
